Coforge's 53.6% growth headline needs its currency and comparison period
Coforge's results report annual rupee growth, annual dollar growth and sequential organic growth at constant currency. Keeping those bases aligned matters before drawing conclusions about the pace of its business.
How fast is Coforge growing? Its October 23 earnings announcement supplies several answers, and each comes with a different label.
The original company release reports revenue of INR61,708 million, or $652.2 million, for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Revenue increased 53.6% from a year earlier in rupees and 40.1% in US dollars. Coforge identifies its listing as NSE: COFORGE.
Start with the measuring unit
The two annual percentages describe revenue expressed in different currencies. Choosing the larger one without its currency label would make a comparison with another services company less informative.
For investors, the useful first step is to put both companies on a consistent basis: the same currency treatment, the same period and a comparable business perimeter. A percentage can be accurate and still be the wrong input for a particular comparison.
Currency consistency alone also does not tell a reader how much growth came from the existing business. That requires an organic comparison with a clear definition of what is included.
The quarterly figures need separate treatment
Management also reports 10.1% sequential revenue growth in US dollars and 3.8% sequential organic growth at constant currencies. Sequential means compared with the preceding quarter; it is different from the annual comparison in the headline.
Those two quarterly measures differ in both currency treatment and business scope. Subtracting 3.8% from 10.1% would not, by itself, establish an acquisition contribution. A reconciliation on matching bases would be needed to make that attribution.
Nor should either quarterly figure be silently converted into an annual pace. Repeating one quarter's performance is an assumption about the future, rather than another reported result.
Coforge raised its fiscal 2027 EBIT margin guidance from 15.5% to 16%. EBIT measures earnings before interest and taxes; the guidance remains management's expectation.
Our reading is that the next useful disclosure would connect reported growth to organic growth on a consistent currency basis. That would help readers assess how the business is expanding alongside the margin target. The current announcement supports keeping these measures distinct, rather than treating its largest growth percentage as a complete explanation of operating momentum.
