U.S.-based energy technology startup Verse has raised $54 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round as it looks to address one of the biggest challenges facing the AI industry: access to electricity.

The financing round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and included participation from existing and new investors, including GV, Nvidia and Norrsken VC.

Alongside the funding announcement, Verse unveiled a new platform called Dispatch Intelligence, designed to help data centre operators bring new computing capacity online more quickly by using on-site energy resources such as battery storage systems.

The company says the technology can potentially reduce power connection delays by as much as three years. Data centre developers increasingly face lengthy interconnection queues, transmission constraints and generation shortages as demand for AI computing infrastructure surges.

Rather than reducing computing workloads during periods of grid stress, Dispatch Intelligence coordinates on-site energy assets to make data centres more flexible electricity consumers while maintaining full computing performance.

Verse is also partnering with Calibrant Energy to deploy on-site energy solutions that can reduce dependence on grid upgrades and speed up approvals for new facilities.

The company said its new offering will integrate with Nvidia's DSX AI Factory reference design, which is intended to accelerate the construction and operation of large-scale AI data centres.

The fresh capital will be used to expand Verse's products and deployments as demand for power infrastructure solutions continues to grow. The company expects to add more than 100 sites over the next year and increase the amount of battery storage capacity managed through its platform.

The funding highlights the growing focus on energy infrastructure as technology companies race to build AI data centres, with access to reliable power emerging as a key bottleneck for industry expansion.
