Begin with timeframe
A daily chart and a weekly chart can describe different structures. Define the timeframe before naming a trend, support area, breakout, or momentum change.
Trend and structure
Higher highs and higher lows may describe an advancing structure; lower highs and lower lows may describe deterioration. Moving averages summarize prior prices and lag by design. They are context, not instructions.
Momentum
Momentum indicators compare recent price behavior with prior periods. Strong momentum can persist, and an overbought label does not by itself predict a reversal. Combine the signal with structure and a clear invalidation condition.
Volume and participation
Volume can help assess participation, but it must be interpreted relative to the security, venue, event, and normal trading pattern. A single high-volume day does not establish cause.
Volatility and risk
Volatility changes position risk, option pricing, and the reliability of tight levels. Historical volatility describes what happened; implied volatility embeds market pricing and is not a certain forecast.
AI overlays
An AI overlay may help label structure, summarize indicators, and surface conflicts. It should cite the inputs, show unavailable states, and leave the judgment with the user. It should not invent levels or convert a pattern into a recommendation.
